Our OMGA Doctors generously participated in the VANDE BHARAT MISSION, to perform the pre boarding medical checks and COVID screening for the passengers on the many special Air India flights from Melbourne to Delhi last month!
On duty at the airport from 3am in the morning, they were diligently screening and doing temperature checks on approx 250 passengers for every flight over many days. Kudos to their efforts and generosity.
Thanks to the Indian Consulate General for working closely with us and giving us the opportunity to serve. A proud moment indeed !
OMGA members made generous donations and raised funds for Victoria Premier’s Bushfire relief fund in the #Docs4firies events!
Attended by Dignitaries- Multicultural Minister Mr Robin Scott,
Members of Parliament Ms Marlene Kairouz, Kaushaliya Vaghela,
Ms Anuradha Sunderamurthy, deputy Consul General from Indian High commission.
A night of soulful singing by OMGA SARGAM group, and making our contributions towards rebuilding fire ravaged communities ! The evening was set alive with some peppy hindi and english songs by our very own amazing OMGA SARGAM singers, who got everyone on their feet! On the serious side, the Fundraiser event was a grand success!
The spirit of the OMGANs was clearly evident when a large contingent of OMGA members and their families booked an entire wing at the MCG to see the India – Australia cricket march. Members were dressed in the tricolour formation of the Indian flag, which was a commendable effort by the organisers. Although the match was washed out by the rain, the members were having so much fun togther that it really didnt matter!
At the Gala of 2017, OMGA Members were entertained by the renowned comedian Akmal Saleh and Tania Zaetta of ex Bollywood fame. Akmals stand up comedy had the audience in raptures and his spontaneous jokes were too funny! Tania did an excellent job as MC of the evening and also recounted some of her Bollywood experiences. Other class acts by top performers made sure the evening was made memorable.
OMGA members had the pleasure of meeting Australian Cricketer Brett Lee at the Annual Gala! There was a QandA session with members asking Brett cricketing questions and Brett being a such a great sport (literally) was happy to answer them! He also showed us some of his Bollywood moves drawing a huge applause from the members!
We had the pleasure of having Cricketing legend Dean Jones as our chief guest at the OMGA event in 2015. It was marvellous to have Dean speaking on his experiences with the older Indian cricket teams and Indian Cricketing legends. He recounted various important events that he was part of and even took audience questions. Finally as expected, he also showed us some of his Bollywood dance moves amidst a rousing applause from the audience!
